San Francisco Laws

In California, there are some laws that are seen as "unnecessary" and "crazy". We have researched and compiled a list of these laws. While we were unable to find further reasons for some of these laws, we still have listed them for your information below.

Laws

  • A law prohibits elephants from walking down Market Street unless they are on a leash.
  • There is an ordinance prohibiting "Cane Games". City officials have no idea what cane games are, but have kept the law in case cane games should surface again.
  • San Francisco is the only city guaranteeing sunshine to the masses.
  • Persons classified as "ugly" may not walk down any street.

It has been said that these laws are now rarely enforced, but still "exist" within the city. They are not in the penal code, but but are still rules within the city.
